ANETH, est une plante qui est assez semblable, par ses feuilles, au fenouil, & leurs propriétés sont à-peu-près les mêmes. Elle vient mieux de semence que de plant, demande un endroit tiéde & peu sujet aux froids, & veut être souveat arrosée.

La racine de cette plante est diurétique & provoque l’urine; sa semence, qui est chaude & dessiccative, excite aussi l’urine, chasse les vents, adoucit le hoquet, aide à la digestion, & fait venir le lait aux nourrices; ses feuilles, qui sont résolutives, appliquées extérieurement, avacent la suppuration des tumeurs.


DILL, is a plant which is quite similar, in its leaves, to fennel, & their properties are about the same. It comes better from seed than from plant, requires a warm place & is a little subject to cold, and wants to be watered often.

The root of this plant is diuretic & causes urine; its seed, which is hot & desiccating, also excites urine, drives out winds, softens hiccups, helps digestion, & brings milk to nurses; its leaves, which are resolving, applied externally, prevent suppuration of tumors.
