CHAMOMILE, comes in all soil, is sown in March, & replanted in April in good exposure.

This plant is resolving, aperitif, febrifuge, softening & diuretic: it is used in poultices, & in emollient fomentations & decoctions. The infusion of the whole plant is of great help in nephrosis, in colic and in the contractions of childbirth. The infusion in oil of this plant is also used in gout, sciatica, hemorrhoids & rheumatism. Dioscorides recommends the flowers of this plant, powdered, in intermittent fevers [malaria–which was endemic in Provence until the digging of canals to drain the swamps of the Camargue in the 18th-19th Centuries].
