Dompte-Venin - White Swallow-wort
- Vincetoxicum hirundinaria

WHITE SWALLOW-WORT, likes good soil & full sun; multiplies from divided plant in March.

This plant is used for the suppression of menses; throw an ounce of the roots into a pint of boiling water; strain the infusion and drink three or four glasses a day, with one ounce of mugwort syrup per serving. The herb preparation [ground, hot or cold, chopped, or mixed with flax meal to achieve the right consistency] is applied in the form of a poultice to breast tumors. The infusion is also suitable for malignant fevers, & those who have been bitten by rabid dogs. The powder of the dried leaves cleans scrophulous ulcers & wounds.
