BOOK FIFTH.
Simples of the Gardens, or the Botany; & a familiar Pharmacy or Apothecary.
We have set out above everything about the Gardens, of whatever species they may be. We just have to deal with a matter that is most useful in the countryside, where we are almost devoid of the help we find in the Cities.

Simples in alphabetical order.
It is advisable to arrange your gardens, so that you have a private one, in which you will only put medicinal herbs, which you will try to acquire knowledge of, and which you will use as needed. We will find in this Treatise the manner of cultivating them, their virtues, their dose and the manner of using them. We can even assure the Public that we are not advancing anything that is not based on a long and solid experience, and that the Masters of the Art have not taught at all times.
This garden can be arranged in planks, like the one with flowers, with two-foot flower beds around the walls, in order to be able to arrange the differences in species of plants that we will want to put there according to their kind, and according to the different exposures that they will ask.
